Zamzam Islamic Academy needed a modern digital platform that could represent the institution professionally while supporting the practical needs of students, administrators, admissions staff, and academic management. The challenge was to move beyond a traditional school website and create a unified experience for admissions, student accounts, programmes, courses, results, announcements, authentication, and academic administration.
We designed and developed a full-stack Islamic education platform built around the academy's real academic workflows. The platform combines a polished public-facing website with authenticated student and administrative portals, enabling admissions management, student records, programme and course management, results processing, announcements, authentication, and role-based access. The interface was designed to feel modern, trustworthy, editorial, and culturally appropriate while remaining simple enough for everyday academic use.

Building a modern digital foundation for Islamic and Arabic education
Zamzam Islamic Academy is an Islamic and Arabic education institution focused on structured learning and authentic knowledge. The goal of this project was to create a digital platform that could communicate the academy's identity while providing the infrastructure required to manage its growing academic operations.
Rather than building another basic school website, we approached Zamzam as a complete digital education platform.
The Challenge
Traditional education websites often separate the public website from the systems students and administrators actually need.
Zamzam required a more connected experience.
The platform needed to support prospective students during admissions, provide students with access to their academic information, and give administrators the tools required to manage the institution.
This meant solving both a communication problem and an operational problem.
The Approach
We designed the experience around three core areas:
Public Experience
A professional website where visitors can discover the academy, understand its programmes, explore its educational offering, learn about the institution, and begin the admissions process.
Student Experience
An authenticated student portal where students can access their dashboard, courses, results, announcements, settings, and other academic information.
Administrative Experience
A dedicated administration system for managing students, admissions, programmes, courses, results, announcements, and other academic workflows.
Admissions
The admissions system provides a structured workflow for handling applications.
Administrators can review applications, inspect applicant information, track application status, and manage the transition from prospective applicant to enrolled student.
This replaces fragmented manual processes with a centralized digital workflow.
Academic Management
The platform includes dedicated management interfaces for programmes, courses, students, and academic results.
Results follow a controlled workflow from submission through approval and publication, helping maintain a clear distinction between academic data that is being prepared, reviewed, and officially released.
Student Portal
Students receive their own authenticated environment rather than interacting with the academy entirely through the public website.
The portal provides access to:
Dashboard
Courses
Academic results
Announcements
Account settings
Password management
This creates a more organized digital experience for students while reducing unnecessary administrative communication.
Announcements
The announcement system allows administrators to publish important information to the appropriate audience.
Announcements can be targeted toward different student groups, allowing academic communication to become more relevant and organized.
Authentication & Access Control
The platform includes role-based authentication designed around the different responsibilities within the academy.
Students and administrators receive different experiences and permissions, helping protect academic information while keeping the interface relevant to each user.
Design Direction
The visual language combines modern editorial design with the warmth and seriousness expected from an Islamic educational institution.
The interface uses restrained typography, warm neutral tones, subtle gold accents, generous spacing, and carefully structured layouts to create an experience that feels trustworthy without becoming overly decorative.
Arabic and English content are presented together where appropriate, allowing the platform to serve its educational audience naturally.
Technology
The platform was built using a modern full-stack web architecture with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, PostgreSQL, and Drizzle ORM.
The application is deployed through Vercel and includes server-rendered pages, API routes, authentication, database-backed academic workflows, and responsive interfaces.
Outcome
The result is more than a website.
Zamzam Islamic Academy now has a digital foundation capable of supporting its public presence and day-to-day academic operations within one connected platform.
The project demonstrates how thoughtful product design and full-stack engineering can transform an educational institution's digital experience from a simple information website into a practical platform for students, staff, and administrators.
